Can anyone help, i've gone over the rules again and again trying to figure out if my elderly parents can visit today on my wifes 60th birthday, my dad has severe dementia and he thinks he lives in our house, it would be a welcome bit of respite for my mum and it would cheer him up.

Which doesn’t fall into any of the categories I’ve indicated. I know it’s tough but it’s for the greater good.

No, following guidelines no, following common sense for goodness sake say nothing more and just let them come visit.

Thank you. i'm worried, we have a horrible neighbour who may report us, and I want to do things right and not break the rules
Support bubbles (which you’d need for the visit to be allowed) are quite strict:

If you live by yourself, you’re allowed to form a support bubble with another household.

Even if carers visit you to provide support but you still live alone, you can form a support bubble.

Single parents with children under the age of 18 can also form support bubbles, while parents with children aged under one or with disabled children requiring continuous care who are aged under five can be in a bubble.

Thanks Zacs,

It would be my elderly parents visiting my wife, my son and myself at our house.

Definitely against the rules and how would you feel if you passed on Covid to your elderly parents?
