..in the evenings. I get home from work and cook the dinner. Watch a bit of telly with my son (8 year old). He goes to bed, and me and the wife stay up. I watch telly whilst chugging beers. She does word puzzles.
Can anyone suggest something that the three of us could do (out the house) in the evenings to make them a bit more interesting?
as your son is only 8, i take it u mean weekends,
how about bowling, or pictures/
museums
go to library, choose books that u can read togrher,
play football
build model planes trains and ships
talk
help with home work
help him write a letter to santa.
there are countless things to do together. just need to be enteusiastic, sorry for bad spelling.
when my son was 8 we were regularly taking him out for meals with us to decent pubs or family freindly restaurants (I don't mean mcdonalds). Summer evenings we go on lots of walks ( these have evolved from being treasure hunts which made him much more enthusiastic when he was smaller. Trips to the local swimming pool/water world. We also turn the tv off and do stuff together, like at the moment my husband and son are doing some carpentry together in the garage (me thinks i am getting a home made christmas pressie!!), or sometimes we have a book which we all read together (like harry potter or something he might struggle with alone), we take it in turns in reading out a few pages
ice-skating, swimming, go for a walk, and inside in the winter (as devilwoman suggests also) model building or jigsaws(the 3D ones are good),family board games (mine like Cadoo, Monopoly etc) Baking stuff like choc chip cookies that you get in 'kit form',interactive dvd games, etc.
Thanks for your input guys. Don't get me wrong, we do spend quality time together playing games in the evenings etc. The weekends are always busy with Bowling, Pictures, playing football down the park etc.
I just mean on these cold dark weekday evenings. What can you do outside of the house after 6.30pm? Bear in mind I live in a small Market Town in Bedfordshire.
