do you just have to sit back and let an ex take you to court for half your property incurring massive litigation cost to yourself?? Is there nobody you can complain to. her whole stmnt is a pack of lies, she knew the house was never hers, now shes saying that the money she gave me was morgage pymnts when it was in fact loans and debts I had paid for her and she paid me back every month. cant believe that there is nobody you can complain to about this, nearly every partner in the uk would be taking exs to court and try to have a claim on their property
This is why it is so important to enter into a co-habitation agreement when you live with someone, setting out who has brought what assets to the relationship and how those assets should be divided up shoud you separate (NB. some or all of the terms of a co-habitation agreements can be pushed aside by a Court if the relationship subsequently bears children).
Hi balearic
Ive been reading your posts with interest as I am going through a similar thing at the moment. Have you got your sorted? Im wondering what the outcome was, hope its good news on your side.
Not good news and have had to make her apayment, purely because the cost of litigation outways anything else so was advised to make a nuisance payment out of court. The system is a farce, even if you know that you are in the right, you still loose out cos it costs too much to fight your corner in court. Hope ur outcome is better!
