Wedding Venue (Glasgow)
6 Answers
Hi, can anyone recommend somewhere in Glasgow (nice, but not over-the-top-pricy) to hold a wedding dinner and reception? We're open to all suggestions - hotels, restaurants, function halls etc
I think we'd be looking to have around 40 for the dinner and about 80 - 100 for the reception.
Thanks in advance x

Mine was only a very small wedding but they do large ones as well. The food was delicious - it was run by an Italian family - and they just went out of their way to make it special.
It is also very handy for getting photos taken at Bothwell Castle which is such a lovely backdrop.

Sorry - I've got no suggestions for a venue, but what I would suggest is that wherever you choose, consider what it will actually cost your guests! I've been to two weddings in the past couple of months and they have practically made me bankrupt! The extortionate prices at the bar (e.g. 21 for two G&T's, 14 for two SMALL wines!) plus accomodation, outfit, present, travel etc adds up to a small fortune! Whilst I was truly pleased to be there to share their special day(s), the occasion was definately marred - I would rather spend more on the happy couple than lining the pockets of the venue owners!
We got married abroad, then had a party when we got home. We hired a function room at a local sports club, where the bar prices were so reasonable that we were able to foot the bar bill for the whole party (getting married abroad costs so much less!) More than ten years later, our guests still tell us that it was the best wedding party they've ever been to!
Anyway, rant over (I'm still waiting for payday after Christmas!) whatever you decide - have a brilliant day!
