just read my grandson's school newsletter, his school is closed good friday and easter monday but then it says they close 4/4/8 for easter!!!!!!! it says after easter monday they start back tuesday 25th march, so it doesn;t look like they have made a mistake! what is it all about? How can they change the easter half term to another time? anyone who wanted to go away will have booked the hols then!!! they better not change the whit week as i have booked to go away then!
It is not the School Hols that have changed. It is the date of Easter itself, so don't blame the schools - get on to your local bishop and campaign for a fixed date for Easter.
i dont know where your grandson lives but we live in kent and our children are off for 2 weeks on the 7th april for our easter holidays. we too have to go back on the 26th of march.
in kent we are running a new system so that when ever easter falls we will always have the 1st 2 complete weeks off in April. I beleive it was also done to help teachers with their planning for the terms and also that if we had our 2 weeks off in march it would make it long term before the whitson half term. one advantage of having the holidays like this is that you can get cheap holidays as the rest of the country will be on holiday around easter and the holiday companys are not aware of it, we are off to florida for those 2 weeks which we would not off been able to do around the real easter break.
Easter is always moving about because it is gauged by the first Sunday after the first full moon after the vernal equinox....if you know what I mean !!
