My 17 year old daughter started College in Sept and I miss her so much.I find myself sitting in her room for awhile. Does anyone know when one gets over missing them.

We all know as parents that our children will leave home, but it can still be a really hard time.
My youngest daughter is the only one at home, she is nineteen, and we are very close, i am dreading her moving out, as I know she will.
We just have to go through the process, and make a fuss of our young ones when we see them, while never ever letting them see that we hurt.
I remember hearing someone tell me when I was little that the moment you start caring about anything or anyone, there is pain at the end of it.
That is true, but never a reason not to care and love.
Enjoy your daughter's company when she comes home, and know that this feeling of loss will disappear by degrees until you don't feel it anymore, and you appreciate your daughter for the independent woman she has become.

you obviously have some time on your hands now that your daughter is not at home - I imagine there will have been little things you did for her or had to clear up after her or whatever. Try to fill your time so you do not have the time to just sit in her room and dwell, maybe without going through her things or whatever you could change her room about a bit so thing sfeel a bit different? Try not to let your daughter know you are feeling like this as she may worry about you - she will be missing you too though, just she will be very busy! As Andy says enjoy the time spent with your daughter when she is home - make the most of it and I bet she will never be to far away from you !
