Can anyone tell me how people with speech and language problems were treated years ago. I am trying to find information for a presentation on how people were treated then and how they are treated now. It is easy to find information on how they are treated now but not then.

Ehen is ' then'? it would be very helpful to know if your talking about 50 years ago, 100 years ago 300 years ago?
Although she had further reaching disabilities than just speech you might want to read up on Helen Keller, who was deaf, dumb and blind and yet managed an extraordinary career and led to perceptions changing which lead to drastic improvements in the way disabled people were dealt with. Cant be much more help than that I'm afraid:)

sorry 100 years
You might be better looking at the history of medical/therapy treatments rather than social aspects of treatment which I assume you mean? This site (is American Im afraid, but) lists a number of references that may be of use.

You could also contact The Royal College of Speech Therapists (RCST) to see if they have any information for you.
