Guildford
Twickenham (Strawberry Hill more specifically)
Godalming
Putney
Richmond
Surbiton
Kingston
Bournemouth

Out of that lot, if they like Winchester I'd probably look at Guildford or Godalming. THey're on main line stations straight in to Goldalming and have that coutryside/town factor I'm assuming they're looking for. However most of those areas aren't too bad at all really, (althoughadmittedly I've not been in the Richmond/Putney/Twickenham or Kingston areas for a few years now).
we dont like townies around these parts.

Sorry, talking out my botty ^^^... Replace Godalming with 'Waterloo.'
i would start by looking at the transport links, like from waterloo and where he is working in london. work your way out towards south west and see where you like the look of that you can affod to buy/commute from/to.

now now ..... mustn't be cruel!

If you want to live near Parky/Gallaghers/Rolf/Dame Kelly/Els/Monty head towards Thames, Maidenhead - by helicopter!
