Freecycle moan

I am a great believer in FreeCycle and get rid of lots of things this way.
I've also got a few items I wanted. It really is a great free site and a very good way to rehome unwanted possessions.

But I cannot believe the cheek of some people.
Wanted - dark brown leather settees, 3 seater and 2 seater.
Wanted - Miele washing machine in as new condition.
Wanted - iPhone 4 in good working order, without contract.
Wanted - Bugaboo cameleon pushchair.

I can understand anyone needing settees, washing machines, pushchairs, but don't be so fussy! The bugaboo one astounded me - I don't think you can buy a more expensive pushchair.

I know exactly what you mean, someone on one of my local ones recently asked for a Blackberry or android phone! As you say we know people need sofas etc, but if they are not in a position to pay for one, for whatever reason, being so picky and specific about what they want really gets my goat, but then I am a grumpy old woman :)

I'd rather pick up furniture from our local BHS charity shop, at least you know it's been de-flea'd.

personally, i don't see much problem - people aren't going to contact them if they don't have said item and want to get rid of it. I once replied to someones "wanted" because just seeing it reminded me i had it, wanted to get rid of it but hadn't done anything about it

A person with no washing machine needs a washing machine that works. They don't need a Miele.
I have asked for quite a few specialist items, but only because they are no longer for sale and I hoped somebody had got one they'd forgotten about.
