Have I missed the point?

Over the past 18months or so, we have had several posts whereby husband or wife have wished their partner..."happy birthday" on AB....so one must assume that the only way to congratulate is by email, assuming that they no longer live together.

In the "old days" one would go into the bedroom with a cup of tea and a card and say "happy birthday darling". Old fashioned eh?

Part of me (the old grouchy bit) agrees with you Sqad.

Then I remember how nice it is when somebody refers to me in a post and either says something nice or something cheerful and unexpected.

Unless my cats work out how to post on AB then I won't be getting a birthday post - but it would be nice to think that someone was thinking of me.

Sqad, lighten up. Im sure I have done similar when Carakeel is sat 6 feet behind me on her PC, its just fun, just sharing a moment, nothing to worry about or get irritated by. Carakeel gets her cup of tea in bed every morning.

So why would you need to give her a card Sqad, just commercial nonsense, surely, how many trees are cut down every year to make birthday and Xmas cards etc.

I don't give cards, I prefer the personal touch of actually talking to people and wishing them a happy birthday or Christmas. We can also share these celebrations online as well.

I find it more confusing when people post happy birthday messages on here (and facebook) to people who are never going to see the message. Such as a baby, a deceased relative, the local stray dog.
