Isofix Baby Car Seat
8 Answers
My son has just bought an Britax baby car seat with a built in Isofix but also with a facility to use the car's seat belt. I have a Honda Jazz and the isofix bars fitted to the car are in such a position that it is impossible to fix the car seat in. We tried using it with the seat belt instead but that seems to interfere with the strap mechanism on the car seat and the straps will not tighten to keep the baby safe. This was bought for my car as I look after the baby once a week. Has anyone else experienced these problems? I might add that the Isofix goes in both my son's car and his wifes with no problem. Any help appreciated!

I have an isofix britax baby seat and you strap the baby into the car seat before it goes anywhere near the car - i don't get how the seatbelt could interfere with the harness. Although my isofix base does work, i have used it with the car seatbelt in other people's cars with no problem
anyway, a solution might be to buy a belted base - my husband has one of these in his car that's too old for isofix http:// www.boo ts.com/ en/Brit ax-Belt ed-Base _858158 / then the seat just clips on.
What model is the carseat?

thank you for your replies.Tha baby is a year old and weighs about 23lbs. A bit beyond me to sit her in the car seat and then put it in the car!! Their car seats stay in their car----fixed to the Isofix---- and they have no trouble strapping her in and tightening the straps. We are trying to put the seat in the back of the car behind the driver with the car seat facing forward. There is a mechanism at the back of the seat to lengthen the straps as the baby grows and also to tighten them once the baby is in position. But if you use the car's seat belt to fix the seat in position it is impossible to tighten the straps. We only tried this when we found it impossible to put the car seat in using the Isofix. GGGGGGRRRRRRRRR. back to the manufacturer I think!!!
ok, i think i understand. When you said baby car seat, i thought you meant a group 0 seat (i.e the ones for newborns) that you can just take in and out of the car at will. you need to ignore my forst three answers!!!
Britax have a fit finder section on the website where you can put your car in and see which ones fit. http:// www.bri tax.co. uk/car- seats/f it-find er If it is supposed to fit in your car, and it doesn't, take it to the shop you bought it from and either get them to do it, or get a refund
