Nappy Rash (Bit Icky)

Well, similar thing. Due to a bile salt malabsorption problem I often have very urgent loo trips with a lot of water and it often feels like it's burning (I think as the enzymes or something are still there and burn the delicate skin).
This is becoming a particular problem with "accidents". Usually only a little before I realise thank goodness. I had two while out and about yesterday and it took me time to get to a public loo to sort myself out (in itself horribly painful) but in that time it was burning my skin.
After the second espisode I headed to the walk in to get checked by a nurse as there was blood (fresh like from the skin) too and it was ridiculously painful. She said there was a 3 inch wide area affected and suggested Sudocrem as they didn't want to suggest anything stronger or with steroids in at that time as it was so irritated.
So I have a larger tub of sudocrem, a mini tube for handbag, vaseline, aloe vera gel, pocket purposes and got some baby bum wipes and moist toilet tissue soft baby wipe things I can put down the loo.
Obviously the best solution is to stop it happening which I'm working on. My gastro consultant had an idea that my meds not seeming to work after my gallbladder op was potentially another issue on top and suggested lactose intolerance and I think he is onto a winner there! Was meant to have a test the other week but was in hospital with the chickenpox saga so missed it. Having experimented though I'm pretty sure he is right.
Back to the issue though, I thought especially the mums on here might have some more ideas to help, still really raw and painful now, especially sitting, walking etc...
Also anything I can get which is more discreet that I can slip into a pocket to take to the loo say if I'm out or at work which is less obvious than say a whacking tub of cream or large pack of wipes. It's not something I really want people generally to see/know.

we use sudocreme on Phoebe - she has never had nappy rash because we use it like a barrier cream (ie apply a layer to the skin to prevent and wee or poo burning her skin) I put it between her buttock, but also in her girlie bit area to prevent poo from going there. I use it quite thick on her.
regarding portability, many women take their handbag to the loo to take lady products, or even just to reapply their lippy, but what about a really small bag that you wear crossways on you all the time (if people are used to seeing you with it, it won't be odd you are taking it to the loo) Plus, after years of using sticks, i still wear my handbag crossways now i don't use them

Thanks both :) Poo bednobs. I am thinking barrier cream to prevent though it's difficult to know when it will strike and seems a bit OTT to have barrier stuff on all the time.
I have a little crossover bag, got it when I got my sticks and a rucksack so I could keep certain things closer to me for safety and to be more accessible like my purse. It's a godsend! I wear a long thin cardi at work most of the time and it has pockets so could stick something in there too.
Maybe I should make more of an effort in the first place so it looks more feasible me going in to refresh my face :) Being in work before 7am doesn't inspire me much though (along with knackeredness, faff etc...) and at least it's dark at the mo!
Saw podiatrist last week - they think the edema and bursitis in my foot is the arthritis and now affecting both feet - got some orthrotics to try. I think the methotrexate is starting to kick in too - bit of a downer missing a week last week with the chickenpox drama but back on it now :)

Yep, been trying to avoid too much fat as still can't tolerate much of it.
Been cutting out lactose a lot too, switching to lactofree milk or soya milk. It's made the malabsorption meds do their thing a lot better - I think the extent of my caffeine habit speaks for itself how much things may have been made worse! I don't mind soya/lactofree though - have had it a lot before as couldn't tolerate lactose very well years back though managed to re-introduce it.

The diet thing is worth not having a skanky gallbladder and the issues with that though :) I might have to try switching to decaff, especially now I'm not quite so exhausted all the time with meds kicking in.

You don't use them when they are hot! My friend gets her mam to scorch rags (clean tea towels) for other mums. I will text her tomorrow (if I remember - too late to text her now), apparently they work a treat (one little boy had been prescribed steroids for his nappy rash and the scorched rags cleared it up). Obviously, it sounds I realise this all sounds a bit arcane.
