Babies Growth Centiles
5 Answers
My baby girl born 3 weeks early was a low birth weight of 5lb 13 and was on 2nd centile for weight.
She is now following 25th centile at 3 months.
However, her head measurement was 2nd centile, then 25th and has now jumped to 98th!
Her length has gone from 2nd to 60th centile.
Is it common that the 3 different measurements follow different centiles and does it mean a sudden jump represents a problem?
I started googling and wished i hadnt.
My husband says that large heads follow in his side of the family!
Anyone else have a baby that had such a variety of measurements?
Health visitor said she would measure her again in 4 weeks so not sure if she thinks there is a problem? She said often body parts grow at different rates an her body would probably catch up but I cant help but worry now!
Thanks

My daughter (born not all that long before yours) was 10 weeks early, so wasn't even on a centile for her weight for a while (ie below 0). Meanwhile her head was on the 50th centile. I worried for a while, but as she's got a bit older things are evening up a bit - now on 9th centile for weight and 30th for head. On the opther hand, one of my friends always thought her child's head was large for her size and found out at 1 year old she had water ont he brain and had to have an internal shunt. Are the fontanelles bulging?
the best person tp talk to would be the HV - i have noticed they are quick to refer to paeds if they are worried
