Hi all,

My wife & I are in the early days of trying to conceive. Is there anything that I could be doing to improve our chances, other than the obvious of having more nookie!? Should I be eating certain foods or taking particular supplements?

Thanks in advance

really seriously. I understand that its good to wear boxers and keep you <ahem> factories cool. Best of luck to you both
your wife needs to start taking folic acid as soon as poss and during ,and i agree with the boxer short thing lol . good luck
don't smoke and drink in moderation. they both affect sperm count. also eating healthily is said to help you both. bw

A zinc suppliment is supposed to be good to help your "little fellows" perform. Also no fags, little booze (it is worth it!) and a generally healthy diet with lots of water.

My husband & I followed these rules & we conceived after our 3rd month of trying.

Check out the following websites as they may help you both. Also advise says you shouldn't try every night as this is not enough time for your body to recover is supplies, every other night is enough when you wife is at her peak.

bbc    babycentre    ivillage

Best of luck.

try and work out wifes ovulation , usually around day 14 from start of period.  If her cycle is regular. Then concentrate nookie around that time.Daily temperature reading and assesment of vaginal discharge also predict ovulation but it all becomes a bit too scientific and may detract from the whole experience. Candidly I would n't  try to hurry the process up at all as some of our best sex as a couple was when we were "trying" to get pregnant.Make it last!

Thanks for the advice folks, much appreciated. I'm glad you didn't suggest every night Tiggster, don't think I'd be able!, maybe 10 years ago!
Caffeine can really make your sperm faster- drink just a bit before having sex- don't wear constrictive clothing including jeans- definetly listen to the earlier advice of staying away from alcohol or smoking. And as my spouse says- PRACTICE :)
when me and my husband were trying for our 2nd child, we had absolutley loads of nookie, and also at the end of every session I lay on my back with legs resting up against the wall with bum slightly raised so that gravity would take over and encourage the sperm to swim in the right direction. It's not a medically proven thing but I was pregnant in 6 months
