It's not going to be much fun ringing a plumber in (say) France at 3.30am and trying to explain that the ballcock is faulty,if you don't speak enough French!
Also speaking the native language integrates you far more quickly into the community.
It's amazing how many people move to live and work in Europe, and assume they all speak English;believe me they don't!
I agree with Mystress about the language we have lived in Spain for 3 years and have not been able to learn the language,maybe it is not so easy for old people ,but you youngsters will learn quickly,there are books with practical advise on moving abroad i.e working abroad and living abroad.But do get legal advice about all aspects it is not as easy as it seems.
