Are Atheists Unsure And Worried?
170 Answers
According to some of the religious people here, the reason atheists argue religion is because they ‘are not sure and are a bit worried’ (Keyplus’ words). Religion is an option available to all – atheists choose to reject it. What then, do those who say this think we are unsure or worried about? The question has been asked several times on different threads, but as far as I’m aware, no one has given their reasons for thinking that. Can someone please explain?

Also we are sure that there is no elements of the supernatural existing anywhere.
I am worried about world peace, poverty and if the planet can survive all the pollution that we are squirting up into the air 24 hours a day.

i am unsure and worried, though it has nothing at all to do with religion...
as an atheist the things i don't need to concern myself over,
going to church, mosque, synagogue, praying, having to abstain from certain foods, having my partner tell me what to do, that seems to be quite a bad one as far as some religions are concerned.
i don't need to worry about the end of the world, according to the scientists that won't be for a long time, and if it does, it's likely to be someone who has a belief, as opposed to someone who doesn't.
I don't have to shave my hair, or wear a long gown with a mask attached, religion certainly has a lot to answer for where women are concerned, or suffer from fgm or likely be married off to some old goat, and be the whipping person for the MIL. I can admire the stars and the universe without the aid of a book that tells me Gods plan, and can avoid listening to boring lectures on sin, all the while the perpetrators of much sin, violence and mayhem exist within the church, mosque.

Khandro, not with you. I know some people don’t bother about attribution, but I used Keyplus’ name because I quoted him. Why you think that relates to my alleged ‘obsession’ with atheism – or to this question - I have no idea. Do tell.
Octavius, I’ve told you why I quoted Keyplus.
//are you expecting everyone to answer on his behalf ?//
The question is not aimed specifically at Keyplus. The words ‘Can someone please explain?’ are clear enough.

I was unsure and worried as an atheist for a while. You might even have noticed. It seems to me to be a big decision to turn away from a faith that supposedly brings with it the promise of eternal happiness, especially if in doing so you are rejecting the faith of your family. So I was worried for a bit that I'd made the wrong decision. Not any more -- but I should be surprised if I was the only one who found the decision hard to make.
That said, I should expect most atheists, once they have reached their decision firmly, have nothing to worry about by definition!
