Walking home with three of my children today - boy #2 nearly in tears because he had got stung whilst up the woods with school, thing 1 in tears because she was tired and had fallen and hurt herself and then my friend noticed that thing 2's baby tooth had fallen out (he didn't even know he had lost it). Felt like the front runner for a bad mother award.

Sherr, have a word with yourself, none of what happened is your fault, it was just a *** day. Now, chin up and grab yourself a nice cold Strongbow :)
Why?

You're not.

You care.

Yes, there are bad days - but there a re good ones.

You love them and they love you.

So to bed with you, a little happier I hope.
Love to know what you mean by Thing 1 and 2, and Boy hash 2??

Ferlew - I have boy #1, boy #2, girl and thing 1 & thing 2 (son, son, daughter and twins - they do have names but obviously not going to use them on here).

Anyway, at least I remembered to be the tooth fairy (even if no tooth to collect)!
Sherr these things happen, having three events in one day may seem like a nightmare at the time, you were not responsible for any of those things happening to your children. Give them all a cuddle and put your feet up. :o)
OK, got you now, and WOW! No way are you a bad mum.
The existence of your occasional self-doubt more or less defines that you are NOT a bad mother.

Bad parents don't even have the insight to realise that they are doing it wrong.

You're fine & your love for the assorted sprogs shines through.

I remember the police bringing one of my children back from somewhere they shouldn't have been. One policeman said to me "you seem like really caring parents, but we are always coming roun here". Never forgotten that. They are really fine adults. Don't beat yourself up Sherrardk. Do your best and it will all be ok.

Thanks all, feel awful that I didn't even notice that thing 2 had lost his tooth (although to be fair, even he didn't know he had lost it). Going to cost me a fortune as they both start to lose their teeth.
Not at all! Children are there to make us feel guilty one way or another ;-)
Trust me the bad days make you stronger
I could tell you stories that would make you weep but we all look back on and laugh
The bad days are the stones you build your memories on
He might have swallowed the tooth. I had to tell my daughter she wouldn't die when she swallowed one of hers, plus I had to leave extra from the tooth fairy.
what's any of that got to do with you? You can't stop kids being stung while they're at school, or prevent teeth fro coming out of gums. Your job is just to comfort them when stuff happens, which you did.

This could be yours

it doesn't go away, I felt guilty tonight because i couldn't nip my 33 years old son to tescos, can't take my 29 year old daughter to college on thursday, car broken. Still feel bad for letting them down ; ( Just wish they'd been interested in learning to drive but they never have been because i always drove them everywhere
Dot, this is why my kids are getting driving lessons for their 17th birthday whether they like it or not.
same here, Dot, jno jnr never learnt and we were fine with that as it meant he wouldn't be crashing our car. Now he's 30 he still doesn't but it's now his girlfriend's problem.
oh one of mine had lessons, the younger one, (he's 28 now or 27 ) he had lessons when he was 17/18 but his instructor had a stoke at the wheel during his lesson and went blind in one eye.
worked it out, he was born sept 86 so he;s 27
Bloody hell, that was unfortunate for him.
Sher. how can you think of yourself as a bad Mum. you're one of the best. Everyone on here who reads your posts knows that. Chin up girl, tomorrow is another day.
