Yesterday at the gym, male and females had to temporarily swap changing rooms as the female changing rooms needed maintanence.
I didnt consider for a second there would be a difference between the two, boy was I wrong. The female room has leather couches, individual shower cubicles (rather than communal) with big powerful shower heads (the gents showers just trickle), they had flat screen TV's in each corner (gents has one TV that sometimes doesnt work), they had vending machines with a far wider range of products to choose from, biger toilet area, twice as many hair dryers, twice as many mirrors and the whole area is about another half as big as the male's.
Is this a common thing, the women getting better facilities?
Is it a courtesy thing as generally women prefer comfort and spend more time getting ready?
I have to say I enjoyed the plush changing room and have to go back to the grotty male one today

why don't you ask the people who own/operate the gym?

I may do out of interest, I can live with it, but there is some notable differences!
well if you are paying the same subs, surely you should get the same quality of facilities?

Good point, just curious as to whether this is a common theme in gym's?
I don't enter gyms (think im allergic to 'em) so can't comment on their changing rooms, but in pubs and clubs the ladies toilets tend to be marginally more plush than the mens.
In my experience of the gym men tend to use the changing room purely to change/shower therefore do not require plush surroundings.
Jd...it's because we need it......we like privacy...powerful showers to rinse the hair properly....we are much more prepared to spend lots of money on a wider choice of products....the mirrors speak for themselves....☺..and..

We need the couches so we can curl up for a coffee or two and moan about the other half while our nail polish dries...... ;-)
It's about the in shower procedure too. I refer readers to my hilarious (ahem) post of a while ago ...

Our changing room at the golf club is equipped with urinals which is probably unnecessary for the ladies.
sex change, jd ? :)
our gym has individual shower cubicles, toilet area, mirrors, x 3 hairdryers x 2 flatscreen tvs. i wouldn't say it was massive but i've not seen the mens so have nothing to compare it to
no vend machines or sofas in the changing rooms though, they are all outside in the communal areas.
That electric blue leotard is split right up the backside fluffs... thought you'd want to know.
oh i know :-)

the class is always oversubscribed when i trot that little beauty out....
