When Will I Be Free????
6 Answers
Hi everyone.
I had a lizarov frame on my ankle for 6 months, plaster for 5 weeks, and I was due to get my plaster taken off on friday.BUT things where not looking good.I could not find my lucky charm,so I was worried that on Friday as soon as I was out the front door there was a massive rumble of thunder!!!
I live about a 15 min drive from the hospital, but as we approached the tunnel (Mersey tunnel from Birkenhead to Liverpool) there where tailbacks.Turns out there had been a crash in the tunnel so everyone was getting diverted to the Wallasey tunnel, normally another 10-15 min drive.
Well 1 and 1/2 hours later we got through the tunnel. So I arrived for my appointment at 5 pm,just as the plaster room and everywhere else where shutting. However, one of my consultants team was there and I was X ray zapped and she said I could have the plaster off.....Yay.....but the plaster room is shut, come back Tues.
Now I rely on OH who some of you may remember has had a few medical problems (a Nasty super bug or two and half his digestive tract removed resulting in a stoma, and two hernias). He moved a set of draws a couple of weeks ago and now cannot lift or push my wheelchair. My daughter came with us on Friday cos she finished collage early.
Hospital rings this morning,I have to see my consultant so no Tuesday visit for me :(
Waiting for a phone call to see when the consultant can see me and when that co insides with someone else (either my son or daughter) can come with to haul the wheelchair in and out the car!!!
I am getting so frustrated at waiting I want to move the wheelchair myself, but the main problem is to get from the car park to the hospital there is a hill. Not a very steep one, hardy notice it when walking, but yes, great idea that to build a hospital with a HUGE sloap going to the main entrance.
I just want the plaster off,so I can see my foot nice and straight for the first time in years!!!!
I know,at least I still have a foot, which one consultant said I wouldn't,which got me remembering something a nurse said when I told her about the 'You will lose your foot' diagnosis, she said I should sue the Dr for mis information.
Anyone ever done that?
Sorry for the long post,I guess I just had to explode at something, and the poor keyboard was in front of me and I remembered how supportive you guys where when OH was so ill (see some of my old posts for the grisly details-especially the Can anyone help post,it makes me cry even now)
Oh well,I will pop off and have a nose round the rest of the site while waiting for the phone to ring-knowing my luck it will be when I go the loo .
Thanks for reading!

Guess I will get a letter in the morning.
It's just with other things going on in my life, like how my Hubby is feeling so down too,I just find it hard to keep going.
I know I am having a feel sorry for myself half hour, but when he is down, the whole household is affected, but no one knows what to do :(

Just had the call-yay!!!
Looks like Friday will be the day I finally get to see the results of all the surgeons hard work, hopefully one straight working leg!
Maybe this will cheer Hubby up a bit,I hate to see him so down.
Glad to see you are still going strong Mamyalynne, are you still my adoptive Granny ;)
