Hi there I am very worried regarding my oldest friend we have been friends for 27 years and we speak on the phone every day he has severe OCD and on anti depressants for years but not really been helping. He spends hours in bathroom a day and even has resorted to washing his feet and hands in dettox to rid himself of germs. 18 months ago he developed a foot ulcer on big toe and one next to it and despite getting it dressed 3 times a week it has got worse and they have no option but to amputate it tomorrow under general. I am really worried about him he is terrified not of the op but of the germs in hospitals. Will the staff know how to deal with this ocd as he is going into a general ward he will be home the same day.

no, the staff will not have any experience or understanding of your friend's OCD, but wil most likely let him get on with whatever he needs to do
Hopefully he will have mentioned this phobia when he had his pre-op and it will have been entered into his notes? I do hope so. x
Oh that poor chap, what a nightmare, can you yourself explain to the staff.
poor thing. I would hope the staff are aware if his OCD, and will be able to accommodate his condition.
Hey gordie....just wondering how the op went for your friend? Hope all was well x
