Menopause
6 Answers
So last July my second Mirena coil was removed, I bled for a few days( not sure if this was classed a period or not really) , I had a blood test two weeks later and when I went for the results my gp greeted me with the words" well, you are still young and not in menopause yet". However, I have not had a period since! So 7 months in all. Oh by the way I am 53 next April. So am I past the menopause or not? And can I still get pregnant? Thoughts please.

Average age of menopause -51
Can I get pregnant - highly unlikely as you are not ovulating regularly but not entirely impossible.
Have you had any other symptoms the main one is hot flushes (going really hot for a few minutes for no apparent reason)?
Some women can go through the menopause with very feew symptoms while others suffer greatly with symptoms.
Doctors are more concerned if you START to bleed after your periods have ceased for over a year so I would just enjoy your new state of being period free and if you are worried about getting pregnant (have a look at the stats you have more chance of wining the lottery) then use a condom.
