My 15 year old terrier was at the vets last week for her annual booster injection and the vet also gave her an injection for her painful joints. She was fine for a week but now has the following symptoms
Limping very badly
Reluctance to walk or jump onto the sofa
Difficulty rising from a resting position
Difficulty finding a comfortable resting position
Crying or whimpering for no apparent reason.
Is there any way we can ease the pain for her ? I'm scared that if I take her back to the vet, they will say she should be put to sleep but I don't want her to be in pain.

There are a number of pain killing, anti inflammatory medicines that your dog can have. Go back to the vets.
Have you tried supplements, my dog has Seraquin and his arthritis flare ups are few and far between now, others on here use different ones so may be able to offer more advice. Good luck, it's very distressing seeing your pet in pain :(
Try Seatone (extract of green lipped mussel) from the health store (or Boots may have it also). Use it for my own 16 year old dog and it works fine. Should kick in after 10 - 12 days. Don't know how big your dog is, mine is large collie size and he has one a day. Good luck.

Thanks to all 4 of you for your helpful advice; I wish I could mark all of you the best answer. I took Daisy to the vet yesterday and he diagnosed congestive heart failure and arthriisand thought that with all her various problems it has come to a crossroads, decision making time. He has prescribed vetmedin, Frusedale and Rimadyl tablets. So far , she will not have anything to do with them. I've wrapped them in chicken, tuna etc but she just eats the meat and spits out the tablet .If she will not take the medicine then I shall just keep her as comfortable as I can and hope that she slips away quietly; if I thought that she was in pain then I shall take her back to the vet. Thanks again for your advice.
try crushing the tablets between 2 spoons and mixing with gravy , yogurt , porridge , custard in fact anything she will eat ,only do 1 tablet at a time , i wish you luck as know what a nightmare this can be
So sorry to hear this, lass. I wonder if your vet would prescribe liquid medication for the arthritis - my cat has an arthritic shoulder and he has a dose of Liquid Loxicom for cats every day, I just squirt it into his mouth. http://www.petdrugsonline.co.uk/prescriptions/l/loxicom-oral-suspension-for-dogs
