Central Heating Not Working

My gas Central Heating has stopped working. The boiler is making the noise it makes, usually but, the radiators are not heating up.

I have a gas engineer coming in the morning under the Service Policy taken out by my landlord.

However, the boiler is still making the noise. Is this safe? Should I switch the whole thing off, tonight? Thanks.

Air lock in the System? have you just started to use it after a long period Chris?

Not really, TWR. Been using it since Novemberish.

Do you know how to bleed the system?

If it isn't heating anything useful to you, you might as well turn it off to save fuel (i.e. if it isn't heating the DHW either).
It isn't dangerous because these things have interlocks on them that turn them off if they start to get too hot.
Sounds like a pump or a control valve to me.

No, no, no. I have a gas fire in the, lounge so I can keep warm tonight. I just wondered about the growling noise.

Should I switch the whole thing off at the wall?

There's no point bleeding the system - it ain't that.

So, should I switch off its electricity? Would that stop the noise?

Try the old fix . Turn it off turn it on again

If its a combi boiler the heating circuit pressure may have dropped below the operating threshold.Is there a filling loop ?

my guess it's something to do with the pump or the electric control but no point in speculating if the engineer's coming tomorrow. I'd just switch it off to stop the noise.

So sorry, guys.

It was a small box that I think, was an inlet/outlet, sort of thing and one side of it had become, blocked. The system shut down because of it.

He replaced it and everything was fine.

Oh. Nothing. My landlord had a policy with British Gas. :))

I had said in my OP that there was a Service Contract in place.
