It is often the colouring that causes problems, so maybe cutting out added colourings and then re-introducing slowly 1 at a time will help you find out what exactly causes the problems.
Brightly coloured sweets could be another cause.
Good luck.
It is possible that if you are giving him pure orange juice he may be reacting to it. I know a child who reacts strongly to orange in any form, so he wouldn't be the first!
Try and give him other things for 3 or 4 days, as suggested. For the purposes of the experiment, it could be a different fruit squash, such as blackcurrant.
The other helpful thing is to keep a diary, putting in an assessment of his mood, maybe on a 1 to 10 basis, and any other factors such as colds or stress and see if any pattern emerges.
Good luck.
