Cleaning Teeth
23 Answers
I read a hint about cleaning teeth a week ago. It said using coconut oil would really make a difference. I tried it today. I had already cleaned my teeth this morning but about lunch time I thought give it a go.
It isn't really oil it is a solidified fat. I put some on my brush and cleaned away. I was amazed when I spat it out there was a definite discolouration.
I could see a difference in my teeth. They were definitely whiter.
I will have another go tomorrow.
Has anyone else tried this?

(yes, please do, 'cos it's entirely accurate!) . . . but I note that the 'evidence' for the dental benefit of coconut oil seems to come solely from the Nigerian Medical Journal. While I'm sure that that are many wholly honest and entirely ethical people in that beautiful country, Nigeria does have a certain reputation for being the world capital of cons!
Call be a boring nerd . . . (yes, once again, wholly accurate!) . . . but I'm one of the few people who actually spends a lot of time reading scientific reports and I know the difference between a valid summary and 'sales pitch'. The following simply doesn't read like a 'proper' scientific report to me:
"This preliminary study shows that coconut oil is an easily usable, safe and cost effective agent with minimal side effects which can be used as an adjuvant in oral hygiene maintenance"

4-5 years ago I had a spiral perm which made my hair very dry. I used to buy coconut oil BP for £2ish, and it was like solid white lard.I would put a tablespoon of it in microwave to melt, then plaster it on my hair and leave it under a shower cap for half an hour or so. Seems I was ahead of my time, lol!
