Pets And Owners Death

A group of us got on this subject today and was interested in the wide variety of option provided/not provided for their pets. Some options were....back to the rescue centre, euthanasia, family members, don't want to think about it. I'm asking for your provision for your pet if you'd like to share it.

Should have added all had very, very different animals - some quite difficult.

Our last 3 Dogs, 1 brand new and 2 rescues, have all come from the same Kennels. It's written into our Wills that any dog we have at the time of departure will be returned to them along with a suitable bequest, they are of course aware of this and quite happy with it.

I know someone whom wanted their cat pts if they died before it, which they did, but family members couldn't do it and actually rehomed the cat through a vet. Not sure if I agree with that way and not sure a vet would put a healthy animal to sleep anyway. As I get older and if I have a dog, I don't at present, I intend to contact the Cinnamon Trust, an organisation which will take a pet from you upon your death and find it a new home.

Yes, hereiam. I have donated to them in the past. I would volunteer with them if my work schedule allowed me to do that but it`s impossible unfortunately.

I volunteered for them once too, some years ago and walked two dogs for a man paralysed from the waist down whose wife had recently left hi,

I volunteered with the Cinnamon Trust a few years ago. I walked 3 different dogs and also took one elderly lady and her dog to the vet's a few times. I don't have time any more.

I may yet put something in my will but I have discussed the issue with my brother. I want him to find a good home for my cats or to hand them in to Cats Protection along with a decent sum of money. I trust him to make the best decision for the moggies.

I believe that many people worry about this eventuality. It is a sensible thing to consider what will happen.

I've made it clear within my immediate family that they have to keep my cats. If I end up alone I would make an arrangement with the Cinnamon Trust who I am aware of.

Thank you wolf63 and Prudie -it was quite a revelation just how different people were in their choice of care for their pets after their own death.

As a professional who regularly laments this on behalf of clients' relatives, I am bound to say this is a hole in my own provision. However, were I to die shortly, Mr BM will take on my cats. If Mr BM and I were to die together, my mother is in charge of my cats. She knows where ASBO is going (his other mummy, who is my best friend and from whence ASBO came as a kitten); I have no doubt she would home the others.

We have provided a sum of money in our will for the dog/dogs to be taken care of. They will be looked after by Dogs Trust through their Canine Care Card.
