I love it better when they put their hands down MY purse !
my auld matron at a hospital - we used to have regular run ins - and on her last day, I thought I wd do the
"many battles fought Matron but we bofe had patients' interests at heart - blah blah blah yap yap (god what rubbish it was always personal ) etc"
and the old girl spent the whole time with her back on a door jamb with her hands behind her back and leaning on them
aha ! she had devined that I was planning to shake hands of peace on her last day and she was having none of it
and I have to say ..... the longer my speech went on their weirder it became ...Very unsettling having people speak to you for a time and not show their mitts.
I suppose her "gottle of geer gottle of geer" clenched teeth look and monosyllabic responses along with grunts put me on edge
no grunts of pleasure with that one !
