This sort of thing almost gets me believing in compulsory euthanasia. Here's the link. . .

. . .but to save ads/cookies here the gist is replicated below.

THREE Gosport men have been arrested after a break-in at Marwell Zoo that saw property damaged and objects thrown at animals.
Reports of a break-in at the zoo in Thompson's Lane, near Winchester, saw several police cars and armed officers sent the area, including a police helicopter.
In a social media post, Fareham officers said that objects were hurled at animals during the incident, with pictures of the animal abuse being shared on social media.
Four people in total have been arrested in connection with the break-in.

Fareham Police wrote on Facebook: ‘Three males in their early 20s from Gosport are in police custody on suspicion of burglary today following reports that intruders had broken into Marwell Zoo (causing damage to the zoo premises) and were throwing things at the animals.
Multiple police units were deployed to the incident, including police ARV officers, a dog unit and a helicopter.
‘A fourth individual, a 21-year-old female, was arrested on suspicion of aiding and abetting the suspects, after police intercepted her vehicle trying to leave the area with the males on board.’
Anyone with information is asked to contact Hampshire Constabulary on 101, quoting reference number 44210057948.

There should be much better security at places like this where vulnerable animals are kept. Sadly, not much will happen to these mindless morons. We all know the law is pathetic these days, especially for animal abusers.

Pop them in with the big cats for a couple of hours. If they survive, they can go free.

Air on pay-per-view to raise revenue for the zoo and everyone's a winner.
Damn savages, should be put in with the tigers.
Mozz! Snap!
Tora, we can't agree, it's not the natural way of things on AB.

I need a lie down ;-)
....they should starve the tigers for a few days first!
Maybe coat them in barbecue sauce, just to add to the entertainment lol
I hope that the police officer who caught them was a big, hairy German K9.
The problem that I see in all of this is, they've caught 4 people, what will happen when/if it gets to court .............. very little I would say, slap on the wrist, warning, community service!
They should be made an example of, but no doubt the snowflakes will object, the parents will say that these four are good kids, that they are bored, the lockdown has affected them, boring, boring, boring!
It is the small crimes that should be punished, it leads to bigger crimes!
It begs the question why and what was the point? Couldn't they think of something more constructive to do? I really dont get it. What goes through their tiny minds?
Idiots! Hope the animals are ok after their ordeal.

As is always the case when people ponder on the rationality of behaviour like this - it's pointless, there is no rationality.

Rational minds think of something, usually involved in a profitable outcome such as entertainment, or something good for someone or something, and they proceed.

People like this do not have rational minds.

This has not been thought through by people with intelligence, it is simply a reflex action to a random thought with no concept of consequences, for the animals or for them.

If you sat across a table from them, and asked them why they did it, the answer would be "I don't know... " and that would be the correct response - they don't know.

Children think and behave like this until maturity brings an ability to think beyond reacting to immediate impulses - but some people only mature in a physical sense, their minds remain in childhood where they have absolutely no rational reasons for the things they do.
Perhaps they were looking for Boris.
