Heart Ultrasound Scan.
17 Answers
Hello.
I had an ultrasound scan on my heart two weeks ago at the local hospital.
I have not had any results back.
I'm a bit puzzled.
Will they eventually write to me?

They will not routinely contact you with the results unless there is something untoward or, if there is no need for further investigations and routine review, the May write to you as a courtesy saying that everything is fine and they are not planning to see you again.
Otherwise, if they are planning to review you in an Outpatient Clinic, they will discuss the findings of the investigation with you then.
Oh and the scan probably wouldn't be reported on for a couple of weeks at least. In some cases, due to unprecedented backlogs, scans are being outsourced for reporting.

Was it done by the hospital staff themselves, or a company they outsource to? I've had a few scans done by outsourced companies and they tend to come back with results very quickly, including an echo I had last summer.
Does your GP surgery have a test results option when you phone them, or something like that? Mine has one where you can check if test results have been received and, if so, whether or not a GP wants to speak to you about them.
