Have any of you good people ever used Germolne (or similar antiseptics) on your pet?
Reason i ask is because the lad in the Avatar had an operation on his ear on Wednesday. He had somehow burst a blood vessel and his ear began to slowly fill with blood. Vets drained the blood but said there was a 50/50 chance of it happenong again. It did! So it was drained again only to fill up once more.
Hence the op and he came home with a pad taped to his inner ear and one of those flimsy plastic cones which they advised me to put on him. I did so before we retired but woke up to find, not only had he removed the cone, but also the padding on his ear - he was actually chewing this to bits (probably so i couldn't re-apply it).
So the ear is exposed to the elements and i was thinking of applying Germoline to the inner ear, just to be on the safe side. I know i could go to the vets (again) but i think they've had enough out of me.
If the Germoline is suitable, i will fashion some sort of padding for his ear and tie the cone around his neck a tad tighter when we retire tonight. TIA.

He will find it very difficult to lick whatever i put on his ear. He may have big sails, as Togo once remarked, (see left - they wouldn't look out of place on a yacht) but his tongue is the normal size 😉.
Besides which, as i said, i intend to fashion some sort of padding on the ear and attach the cone when we go to bed - but more tightly than i originally did. I've just pinched some Sudocrem from one of my neighbours who has a baby - knew she'd have some.
Sudocrem and germolene are not the same.

Just an update. In the end, all i did was wash his and apply the hood. Then i spent at least an hour listening to him attempting to get the hood off his head. Fearing that he may damage his ear, i took the hood off and he settled down for the night.
Checked first thing this morning and there doesn't appear to be anything untoward with his ear. Looks just as it did yesterday.
He's seeing the vet again on Monday to see if the stitches can come out. Obviously, in the meantime, i'll be checking and cleanong his ear occasionally and maybe even attempting to pursuade him the hood is for his benefit.🤔
