Two of my freinds and I are considering starting up a nursery for children with special needs and behavioural problems. Between us we have the necessary nursing, nursery, sign language and behavioural program experience. Also we have worked together for the same organisation for getting on for a year now. Does anyone have any tips or information on how we go about this and any regulations etc we need to know about.
I would think a meeting with your local council's Education Department would be a good starting point. I suspect there is a minefield of regulations out there about buildings, ratio of toilets required per number of children etc. and they would be the best people to advise you. Be prepared to jump over a lot of hurdles. However, I suspect there is a need out there for such a nursery, so good luck.
I've been edited! It seems that, because that link includes the letters y, i & d in succession, AnswerBank thinks that I'm posting offensive comments about members of the Jewish faith! Despite this, the link still works and I hope that it will be of use.
