panic attacks
hi, ive been suffering with panic attacks for 2 mths but things have got worse in the past 2 weeks. Ive read previous questions on here where Mind had been suggested as a first point of call. Could anyone let me know what happens when you call them ? Do they put you in touch with people who can help as i dont want to take tablets to prevent these attacks. thanks

i suffer from them also, came out of nowhere oneday at school, and ive had them ever since. They're due to social anxiety.. do you know the cause of your attacks? depending on the cause, there may be different ways to treat it. I take meds, but it doesnt really work, as its more of a phobia i feel hypnotherapy or cbt (cognitive behavioural therapy) will help me,but at the moment iv not managed to take the step and get around to it
other approaches may be to have councelling etc. You should see a doctor though to get to the cause of the panic attacks. good luck
hello
i suffer frm what you are experiencing. go to your gp and ask to b put on the waiting list to see a psychotherapist.... i am currenly seeking this form of help. in brief summary they "teach" you back out of the habit you have found yourself in... they teach you to deal with your phobia. i hope this helps. i also think you are right about not taaking medication to help if possible... keep up the good work email me if you would like to talk to someone with the same phobia... (you too Moon_unit)
hope that helped xxx
This may sound weird, and Ive never suffered with panic attacks myself so cant comment on the effectiveness of this but Im hypoglycemic and wile doing some research one day came across this:
http://www.railwaywomen.co.uk/hypo.pdf
Its a long story but to cut it short (if you cant be bothered to read it all!) this lady suffered from panic attacks amongst other things for years, she thought she was cracking up, nothing seemed to help her and she was on the verge of suicide as she couldnt take it any more. Then by luck she saw a doctor who immediately diagnosed her as hypoglycemic, she cut out her sugar consumption and is now fine!
This may not have any relevance to you but seeing as you dont want to go down the medication route it may be something to think about? At the end of the day if you give up sugar for a month or two and find things dont improve then you havent lost anything
