Do babies need a passport for travel within the UK (specifically London to Jersey)

If not, what identification is required..?

The Official answer is no ( UK & REP OF IRELAND, C.I) but some airlines will ask for picture I.D not for sercurity reasons as they claim but so you dont sell me a ticket and I travel under a your name. If you can a passport it would save a lot of hassle

the law has changed - see following information which is taken from the UK Passport Services website.....

In the past babies and children could be included on a parent or guardian�s passport. The law has now changed and babies and children up to 16 who are not already on a parent�s or guardian's passport must have their own child passport if they are going to travel abroad.

When I go to Ireland my children don't need a passport as long as I have mine (or photo driving licence). I would imagine the same would apply for most domestic flights as the passport is for security purposes only, not for travel as in abroad.

I live in Jersey and to travel to the UK you need Photo ID - Very strict on this. Check with the airline about children.
