moving away

I am a divorced father whose wife left me and our two children to live with someone else. she has made little effort to take them back in the five years she has been gone. there is no legal custody rights involved. I am thinking of moving away from the area with the children and my ex wife is threatening to contest the move. can anyone tell me whether or not she has the right to do this.

I am divorced so know about this just remember the kids will alway love there mother and moving may hurt your relationship with the kids, You need to remember just because you dont care about her anymore the kids do.

you dont say how far away you are for moving ...or the age of the children ..weither your x wife has regular contact with the children or not.
If she has regular contact with the children and your moving far away ie ..more than 100 miles , I can understand why she would contest this . If she took the matter to the family court , you may find that the jufge will not look favourably on you .
It may also mean that all hoildays will be awarded to the mother .
Again it all depends on the access she has to the children up til the move and the ages of the children.

Hello i am a separted mother of 2 children, i also want to move area but not just to be awkward to my estranged husband but because i live in the south and to enable me to buy a cheaper property i have to move about 100miles away, my husband wants me to stay put, but makes doubly sure on a regular basis that this is still part of his house, he strolls in as if its his own and the only way i can move on is to cut free, does anyone know if i can legally do this, and with regards to a previous reply i will happily agree to awarding him holiday access
