a friend of mine is planning on getting pregnant and is keen on having a baby girl. does anyone have an idea of how to concieve a baby girl?

I don't think there is anyway that someone can purposefully concieve a girl naturally...

Well I suppose stage 1 is find a bloke willing to do the necessary. Then stage 2 hope is X's are faster than his Y's.

You cannot choose the sex naturally as pointed out above.

Female sperm swim slower than male sperm and live slightly longer, therefore make love a couple of days BEFORE you are due to ovulate so that the bloke sperm swim off and die before the egg is ready leaving all the little girl sperms to get the egg. Dead simple, but you have to know when you ovulate and obviously it's not a 100% dead cert.

there is absolutely no way of pre-determining the sex of your child, regardless of sperm speed (LOL!). My sister did her PhD on this very topic. There are a huge number of facors that will determine sex, including external temperature (more males conceived during winter, more females during summer), mothers diet, fathers diet, hormone levels etc etc etc. the list is literally endless adn no one has found any successful way of selecting sex (and please, tell you sister not to listen to any "experts" who claim they can help).

You have to leave these things up to chance (and that's part of the joy) and I don't like hearing about parents who are so very keen on having one sex over another. if you can't love both equally, don't become a parent.

surely a healthy child is much more important than a girl or a boy....if shes set on a girl perhaps she should buy a dog where she knows what she is getting!?

Tell your friend I really wanted a girl and got one and I love her to bits. Four years later I had a little boy (now 3) and I cannot express how much I love him. The bond between Mother and son is something worth experiencing and not the same as having a daughter. Whatever she has babies are babies and as long as they're healthy.

I was always keen on having a girl too. My first pregnancy was unplanned and luckily I had a girl.

I read in a magazine that if you make love on the day after your period has finished and then every third day thereafter you have a higher chance of having a baby girl. When my husband and I decided to try for our second child I wanted another girl, so I decided to try this method and bingo we now have Jennifer.

It may just have been coincidence, but I always like to think it was that this method worked. Your friend could try this herself. Good luck!!
