Help with the title of a teenage fiction book

This is quite an obscure question so I understand if no-one is able to help, but I thought I would try anyway. I am trying to remember the title of a book I read years ago: it was a Livewire book for teenage readers, about a girl who is quite shy and later falls in love with her brother's friend and has a relationship with him, but it doesn't work out. It's been years since I read it but it stuck in my mind because it was quite bittersweet. Unfortunately I cannot remember the title: does anyone have any idea what I am referring to? Sorry to be so vague but I read it more than six years ago when I was still at school and I can't remember very many details about it.
