Naturalising your children

Does anyone know why you would want to naturalise your children? My sister in law told me that because i was not married to my sons father when i had him, he would therefore have less rights if we died than my daughter for whom we were married when she was born - does anyone know this to be true?

If I can assume from your question that you married your children's father after the birth of your son, the act of marriage will have given the father parental responsibility for the boy. See the 2nd paragraph, in the main box, here:

Thanks for that - I never realised that you could change the details of someones birth certificate.
when i got my daughters birth registered they asked if me and my partner were married which we're not,they said if we were to get married then have another child,the child we have after we get married would have more rights. silly aint it!
