Do girls (say, ages 5 to 10) play computer games as such? Are they interested at all?

They have linux running on their laptop and they play a whole bunch of games the names of which escape me at the moment. They also play a pc game called catz which is frankly not worth the plastic its pressed on, the constant meowing does my head in! They also play things like Tetris and mario etc and they like playing game boy games too. My daughter's is purple and it fits in her handbag and often her granny mugs her for it just to play tetris too. I was thinking of buying her granny one of her own for christmas!!!!!!
hope this helps

Thanks for your replies. I was just wondering because I was thinking of developing a game to help kids with improving their educational key skills, but not a computer game (more like a card or board game).
Do you think boys and girls will be interested in playing this if they are between 5 and 9 or 10 yrs?
we have 3 girls aged 6 - 10 and they play strategy games ie civ, age of mythology and colonization, but they also play chess, and the knowledge adventure programmes such as jump ahead yr1 and yr2.
the eldest uses britannica for homework too.
they also love the card games that come with microsoft like spider solitaire and pinball!!
