I don't think I'm spoilt. We were never wealthy, but my parents always tried to give me the best they could afford, and if I wanted something they always tried their damndest to provide it. However, I have always been aware that the luxuries I got had to be worked hard for by my parents, and that nothing comes free. Sometimes I did have to go without, but in the long term, it didn't cause any lasting damage.
I think there's spoiling and spoiling. You sound OK, Kitty. Your parents, I think, like to indulge you with a few niceties because they love you, maybe don't see as much of you as they'd like, and in turn you show your gratitude.
Truly spoilt is the child who expects to have everything they want as a matter of course, no matter who has to suffer for it, as long it's not them - a horrible sort to know. I think that's what parents are frightened of turning their children into. Yours don't appear to have any problems there.
