Hi there, I have 5 children aged 12, 8, 4,3,1. I am trying to put together their stockings for christmas and have run out of ideas. I was wondering, what do you put in your kids' stockings?

These are more for your older children. little chocolate father Christmas's Joke books colouring pens. god I could go on. I usually start my Christmas shopping in September so I know how you feel. It's good to be organised.
crete: no, i think it is august 21, but when you have 5 children, 10 niece's and nephews, 4 siblings and their partners, a variety of extended family members both sets of parents and grandparents, you can't really wait until december!
spanner, they are good ideas. I had forgotten about body shop. they do some cool stuff and my 12 year old is just into that sort of thing now. thank you for reminding me about that! It's nice to know I'm not the only one shopping. I tend to make lots of things too, so you can't leave that till alst minute either. I see lots of my friends rushing around at christmas time instead of enjoying their eggnog or mince pies and feel very smug that I am normally all done my october! Thanks again spanner, I owe you a drink!

Both have good Christmas stocking fillers. I put in the same sort of stuff as spanner along with one of those string bags of chocolate coins.

Lush has cool stuff too like bath bombs and bubble bars, I love these and so does my 11 y ear old son. They also do a BLACK toothpaste which kids seems to love the thought of and shampoos that are like bars of soap. You have to put the chocolate coins in and the customary tangerine - better to wait til december before buying these though!!

Well IAP, I start now because I have VERY little money. So I have to spread the cost out over a few months. I only buy for my immediate family who I love and are very good to me and I want to show them that I care by finding special gifts (not particularly expensive ones) that I know will mean a lot to them.
so there Bah Humbug to you too! lol

me too. I have to budget very carefully for my 5 children and my 4 siblings and their partners and their children and I don't typically buy 'christmas things' which is all you get in december and november. I prefer to buy when things are regularly priced or better still in the sales. I also make lots of things and dressmaking for my 4 girls can not be left until december. that is just stupid.
I also think very carefully about gifts for people and don't buy the first thing I see last minute in december. I plan and really think about that person when I buy for them and so it takes longer.
You didn't answer my question at all IAP, and I don't see why you should post on a question you can't answer and be so rude.
I'm with Mycats on this BAH HUMBUG to you, and I hope marley comes to visit soon.

fair enough when the kids were little i tended to think about it in November, the last 5 or 6 years it is my day off two weeks before christmas (don't get a day off for 10 days before christmas day) and that's it, apart from the food shopping which last year I did two nights before christnmas day after I finished work at 11pm.
We did used to put small items in the kids stoclkings upstairs and then always pretend that was it!!! they would come down Christams morning to huge piles of wrapped boxes that covered the entire living room floor some years between the 3 of them.
