When i used to babysit I would NOT eat the parents' food unless specifically told I could and I would make sure I looked in on the little ones regularly in case they woke up which they sometimes did. Would you be happy to be paid £20 from 7pm until 2am? Most of that money would go on the taxi to get home safely at that hour in the morning!

I forgot to say what rate I would recommend apologies! I would say it depends on where you based e.g. London is obviously more than some other areas but I would say about £6 per hour outside London and up to £8 per hour in London especially if the babysitter is very experienced and has first aid training etc. Also, I believe that after 11pm, the rate is meant to go up and the parents should pay for a taxi to take the babysitter home. Good luck to your daughter, she might like to take a children's first aid course with St John's Ambulance, they are quite reasonable prices and very useful when working with children.
