Do you think I'm being unreasonable.

Me and my bloke haven't been for a night out on a weekend for a while, so he said that this weekend he was really going to treat me.
We live apart so he told me to stay at home til lunch on Saturday so he could get things ready. He said he was going to buy me a little present, cook me a romantic meal and then take me for a night out up the town in the evening. He has never said he wants to spoil me like this before and I don't mind as I'm not really into all that, but I thought it sounded really nice and for once I would let my man really pamper me.
Anyways I saw him last night and he told me that his boss had asked him whether he was available to work all day Sat as well as his normal hours (roughly 45hrs a week). He has said he can work before he spoke to me. It has really upset me because we had plans and he has just dropped them to go to work. He had the choice to go in or not and he chose to go. He doesn't need the money as he has over a grand in his account and he is living with his parents until we are ready to buy a place so he has no real outgoings. I just feel like I come second place now. I was really upset with him.
Do you think I have over reacted or that I should be ****** off?

Use it as an excuse to go out with the girls and get lashed, he will be the one stuck at work missing out.
Oh and make him buy you a prezzie with the cash!

Sorry, but I gotta say I think you're over reacting a teeny bit....
Maybe your boyfriend has discovered that having a thousand pound in an account, isn't really a lot of money when setting up a home? Could he possibly be working all these hours to get as much money ASAP for you BOTH???
Agree with above poster though ^^^, there's no reason why you should miss out on going out with your friends instead.

Maybe the Boss asked him in such a way that he felt he couldn't say no, backed into a corner so to speak. Maybe his boss was in a real bind?
I like OBonio's suggestion that maybe he is trying to put you off the scent! How lovely if he is going to really surprise you! Don't get your hopes up tho! Maybe he really does have to work, but you still get a nightout with the girls and maybe the extra money is to go towards his little surprise for you just at a later date? :o)

I like that you guys can be honest, thanks the most to wardy cause I think I definatly needed a reality check on this one. Although I'm not as young as you might think, I have a mortgage and everything lol. But reckon maybe I shall give my man lots of kisses and let it go.
He does work a lot of Saturdays, he is not obliged but normally says yes, which is never usually a problem, I do appreciate the perks an extra few hours at work can bring, both money wise and with the boss ;-) Was just a bit gutted he said yes this time.
Big smiles now x
