A friend has a 14 month old baby girl who hasn't started walking or even attempting to crawl as yet - is this normal?

Yes. She'll walk when she's ready
I would bring up the lack of crawling with your health visitor or doctor, but walking wise, my brother was 16 months before he walked!
my little girl never crawled just walked at 15mths,dont worry about it they are all different, she will do it when shes ready
My first daughter didn't walk until she was 18 months old (neither did I!) and neither of us crawled...I 'bum shuffled' at around 14 months and went on to walk around furniture after that.

I wouldn't be worried, but a chat to the HV would put minds at reast.

Thanks, has put my mind at rest. x
Hi there - my twin boys didn't walk independently until they were 17 months old - the health visitor said not to worry as they were holding onto the furniture to support themselves so their muscle development was therefore OK. Mind you - my boys were very articulate at that age - think they made up for the lateness in walking!!!!
