Actually, this is can apply to old rules as well as the CSA insist they only take the new partners earnings/income into consideration to make sure the one who pays CSA can manage to do so. I find this rather dubious.
My husband is assessed under old rules and maintenance I receive for my two eldest children is in the assessment ~ I don't think this is right, but there you go! I worked too, just to make sure we had enough money to live on.
Personally I think that only the 'absent parent' should be assessed, as it's their child who maintenance is paid for.

Pippa, i agree but when the 'absent parent' is living with somebody who earns enough for them to get a mortgage and they are also able to go on holiday, run a 4x4, buy the 3 other children expensive gifts/clothes/shoes etc AND she is able to have part time temp jobs to make sure she has enough of her own money to buy her drugs and drink, but my s/son has to make do with the 5;00 per fornight we are getting - life isnt so fair then.
sorry - bad experience with CSA and 'absent parent' malarky
