Pregnancy with the coil

My cousins girlfriend has found out she is pregnant and this is a big shock as she has a coil fitted. Obviously an unwanted pregnancy, but she has been experiencing some pain so went into hospital yesterday to see where the pains were coming from. They gave her a quick scan to check the pregnancy was in her uterus, it was but they found the coil wasnt in place. Apparently it could have dropped out, or alternatively the baby could be growing around the coil. She will find out more when she has a scan at he Early Pregnancy Clinic tomorrow. Now she has seen the heartbeat on the scan she wants to keep the baby. has anyone ever heard of anyone having a pregnancy without any troubles when the mother has had a coil fitted? I have never heard of one failing.

I was a coil baby. The pregnancy was fine, I'm fine as an individual and no issues arose from it.

When discussing getting a coil with my doctor a couple of years ago, she told me that one of her children was a coil baby too.

Yes, I know several people who have become pregnant even though tthey had a coil. Mostly the coils came out with the baby, one of the coils became embedded in the uterus and had to be removed, but in all cases the babies were fine.
