Is he finding his boundaries??
Hi, I have a very active, sneaky and intelligent 9 month old. He's just started to have tantrums like you see more in a 1 1/2 2 yr old when he doesn't get his own way, throwing himself backwards when you hold him and being a little swine in every way. He is normally such an easygoing little fella I wondered whether this is part of him trying to see how far he can push the boundaries? He is walking along the furniture and getting into a lot of stuff that he shouldn't-he was okay with being told no when he was crawling but has become very much more assertive!! What shall I do with the tike?! He is driving me nuts but I'm not backing down. God, it all sounds like a massive power struggle-it is,lol........

Continue as you have been. Say no and remove things from his reach that are dangerous as he'll soon be getting around everywhere so you need to be careful.
Tell him why he cant have things, he can understand you even if he cant talk back yet.
dont back down and youll soon find hes more settled again.

God Ive got all this to come again! lol
Its like redcrx has said, explain why he cant have/touch something......and continue to do this as the grow up as it helps them to learn. Of course, he could be an obstinant little so and so like my daughter, she still tries to always have the last word at 6 yrs! lol
I bet there have been times you have tried not to laugh at him when he is being so assertive! lol

my son is ten months old he also has tantrums but have found rather than saying no to little naughty things he does i distract his attention (toys making funny faces etc) and he forgets what he was up to before.
i only use the word no when he is in danger of hurting himself and he will stop straight away!!!
if you say no to every little thing he will continue to do it, try to use the word no only when u really need to!
