Fell off my bike!

My daughter has just started her periods and isnt feeling up to doing much today.She was expecting a mate to ring to go out and was going to tell her she not well.I told her to tell her"Ive fallen off my bike".She looked at me like ive got two heads.This saying was passed to me from my Mum,has anyone else heard it?What do you call your monthlys?
