Exercise during pregnancy.
4 Answers
Im nearly 12 weeks pregnant and Ive always attended the gym regulary but I stopped bout 6 weeks ago when I found out I was pregnant as I was scared it may harm the baby. I had a misscarraige last year and was told that I am supposed to be taking it easy. Ive had my first scan and everything is normal so far, so do you think I would be ok to do some gentle exercise at the gym or maybe take up swimming. I hate not doing any exercise and im eating alot more now as im constantly hungry.

I took up swimming regulary when I found out I was pregnant with my daughter and even though I would feel tired for a while after, I always felt better for it. It gives you good excercise but is also very relaxing. I intend on starting again with this one just as soon as I start get a bit more energy ! lolJust dont over do it! And congratulations :)
Congrats.
I have to say that my sister was in the same situation as you and she used to do exercise classes at the gym. She found it really useful to speak with the Gym Instructor at her classes. She was advised which classes would be best for her and how hard she should or shouldnt be pushing her self.

I agree - I did loads of swimming when i was pregnant and walked a lot.
Swimming is great when you get bigger too as the water will support your big tummy!! Truble is, when you get out you feel lke you weigh about 100 stone!!
I gave up weights and cardio though as I didnt want to take any risks.
Good luck and enjoy it x

Hi Lexy, I regularly went to the gym, and did Body Pump (resistance training class) and ashtanga yoga but felt I had to stop for a while towards the end of the first trimester (I am 15 weeks) as I was just too tired to do anything. I was advised to stop the yoga class (or take up one that is directed towards pregnant women), but I stopped Body Pump and the gym of my own accord.
I have however, incorporated a 15minute walk into my day everyday and, like Psychick, as soon as I have some energy I will be straight down the pool - as it is, tonight is the latest I have been awake in months!
Congratulations x x x
