'Eat Baby Eat'

Does anyone remember a book which i borrowed from library as a child in the 70's about a dog (who i think was a milkman!) who came to be a nanny for a baby. He was horrible to the baby and would scream at him "eat baby, eat" and "sleep baby, sleep". I was so traumatised it had to be returned without me finishing the book! I would love to find it now. Nightmarish stuff! Any info?

Blimey! Sorry, I can't help you but it does sound awful! Isn't it strange the books we were allowed to read then? The one I remember is The Hobyahs where poor little dog Turpy was cut into bits because he barked too much.
