Restless through night
Hi, my little boy is eating well and sleeping approx 3 hours through the day at age 5 months.
We have had our share of waking up times and we managed to get to 5.30am before he would cry to be cuddled or rocked back to sleep. Any other time he woke I put his dummy in his mouth.
At the moment from anytime from midnight onwards he will get restless - he will still be practically asleep but is moving his head from side to side which seems forever. He doesnt cry to be picked up but will give the odd moan to which a dummy goes into his mouth .... his head then starts going from side to side again, sometimes he will fall asleep and sometimes just keep being restless.
Any ideas on how to stop this -- sometimes I will pick him up if he cries too much but I know he doesnt want feeding as its only a moan cry more than anything
Cheers

Thought of that myself but as he is in our room at the moment due to his being decorated Im paranoid of waking my partner up as he works practically 12 hour days. He says he doesnt mind but I can catch up on sleep through the day where he cant!! Sad arent I. Fingers crossed the wardrobe man comes next week as promised then I wont be so "on alert" when he moan and gets restless!
Cheers

tgm, my son was like this and in the end my husband put his foot down and put him in his own room as he got to thinking that my son was being disturbed by me trying to settle him. I was dead against it, but low and behold the hubby was right!
If my son did wake, I didn't notice so much and he slept so much better!
Only thing that didn't change is that he was and still is an early riser! 6:30am is all I can get out of him, but he's got better from 5:30am
.... he's 4 yrs now!!! LOL

my daughter does the exact same tgm,
iv recently put her in her own room it is better as once you are comfortable and learn to trust the monitors you do get a better sleep, but my baby still wakes for her soother and sometimes i bring her in beside me which alot of people would say you shouldn't do but at that time of night you would do anything for a sleep. she is 9months and im a lone parent so yes "Anything" you would do (lol)
My girl also wakes sometimes and thinks its playtime. hmmmm not good
all the best
just wanted you to know your not alone

Well I have just finished painting his bedroom and he is going back in there at the weekend even though his wardrobes have yet to be fitted (never get a mate to do them - Ive been waiting 6 weeks).
Just letting the fumes die a death so hopefully all problems will be solved.
Will keep you all updated x

you need to stop picking him up or you are going to make problems worse also u need to put him in his own room its part of the way we are to go through different sleep cycles babys generally go to bed approx 7pm they go into a deep sleep for 2 hrs and then come into a lighter sleep approx 9 to 10 if left they will resettle themselves and then sleep not soundly but with out problem until 5 in the morning this is where problems start most parents take this wakening as time to get up but its just another cycle in a babies sleep leave to resettle themselves or learn to adapt a limited time with as little stimulation as possible to settle them ie you going in and stroking babies back or just making soothing noises at the door but if possible dont go in at all ensure the babies room is very dark so its not early morning light disturbing them if baby wakes at 6 or onwards the unfortuantley it is time to get up
i am guessing you lay your baby on his front. my 3 month little girl will not settle on her back only her front. She to moves her head from side to side and i also know she is feeling the pain of teething.
in my experiance it's nothing to worry about if i think her gums are giving her problems i give her a powder called teetha from boots.
Now and again she has a little moan as she moves her head from side to side early on i did pick her but but soon found out it was actually me waking her.
my advice would be to leave him be. unless he is in pain and really needs you (and he will let you know) just relax and take a step back. let him settle himself.
Good Luck.
